While I see myself as a scientist with a technical background in software engineering and data analysis, I am also passionate for finance in general. More recently I have specialized in crowdsourcing and machine learning.
My education background is mostly technical. I have a master’s degree in Software Engineering from the University of California Irvine. Previous to that I graduated in Computer Engineering (bachelor and masters) by the State University of Campinas. The need to manage technical teams required me to become a certified project management professional (PMP). I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. at the Hasso-Plattner Institute.
With regards to my non-technical readings, I used to read a lot of biographies, history, and philosophy. Somehow, I feel that I satisfied my interests in these areas. Nowadays, my readings have been around the topics of evolutionary biology, probability, and psychology.
My current hobbies are swimming, polishing my fluency in German, and playing the acoustic guitar. Of course, not forgetting that I am a conversationalist, I love a good chat over coffee (no sugar, please!) 🙂
